The Facts About Summer Learning

The Brain Doesn't Have an Off Switch

Kids are always learning—even while sleeping, which is when the brain processes and stores the information that was learned throughout the day. That’s why, cognitively speaking, it doesn’t make sense for kids to take a complete break from learning over the summer.

The idea of summer learning is not a new concept. Since the 1970s, researchers at Johns Hopkins University have been studying the fact that students lose academic ground over the summer.

“Summer learning becomes more important to ...

Sunday Crepes

Perfect Breakfast for Mom!

Ingredients:
  • 1-1/2 cups whole milk (I rarely have whole milk and have used almond milk, skim milk, and combinations of whatever is in the house)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3 Tablespoons sugar (I've used Stevia, only used 2 Tablespoons, again...forgiving)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Scant 5 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ...

Young Artist Art Studio

Art :  A Unifying, Dynamic Activity, and
Vital Role in Children's Education

Drawing, painting or construction is a complex process in which the child brings together various elements of his experience to form a whole new meaning within the process to select, interpret and reaffirm those elements. A child gives us something more than a drawing or a sculpture; he provides us ...
