Rainy, or cold, days can feel endless when you're trying to keep the kids entertained indoors. Sometimes, a little creative inspiration is all you need to turn a dreary day into an adventure. Whether it's building an epic fort, diving into a fun craft, or setting up an indoor obstacle course, we've got you covered with exciting ideas to keep your kiddos busy and happy while the rain pours outside!
Indoor Activities for Preschoolers
- Indoor Obstacle Course: Use pillows, furniture, and toys to create a fun obstacle course in your living room. (Can even upgrade it to a FLOOR IS LAVA game!)
- Playdough Creations: Set up a playdough station with various tools and let them create whatever they imagine.
- Storytime with Puppets: Read their favorite storybooks and use puppets or stuffed animals to act out the stories.
- Building Forts: Use blankets, pillows, and chairs to build a cozy fort for imaginative play or quiet time.
- Color Sorting Game: Use colored toys or objects around the house and have them sort by color, practicing their colors and motor skills.
- Baking Fun: Get them involved in baking simple cookies or cupcakes and let them help with mixing, cutting shapes, and decorating.
- Sticker Art: Provide them with stickers and paper to create their own sticker scenes or artwork.
- Scavenger Hunt: Create a simple indoor scavenger hunt with easy-to-find items around the house.
- Sensory Bins: Fill a bin with rice, beans, or water beads, and add small toys or tools for exploration.
- Dance Party: Play some fun music and have a mini dance party to get some energy out. (We also suggest Brain Break or Danny GO videos on YouTube!)
- Indoor Car Wash: Let your little one "wash" their toy cars, dolls, or plastic animals in a bin of soapy water with sponges and brushes. Give them a towel to dry everything off—it's a great sensory activity and keeps them entertained for a while! (Works amazing with a water table or buckets in a shower!)
These activities will keep kids entertained and engaged while staying dry and cozy inside!
