Our Stay at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center

By Julie Akiri July 25, 2017

I’m always looking for things to do with the kids during the summer and have been wanting to visit The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center for years.  This was the summer we were finally able to make that happen and I’m glad we did.  For starters, our room had 2 queen beds which was a huge plus when staying with kids and we also had a mini fridge.  Our porch overlooked the golf course and was so relaxing to enjoy each night while I waited for my kiddos to fall asleep inside.

The amenities at this resort are second to none with Golf, Spa, Fitness Center, Activity Pool complete with waterslides, lazy river with another water slide, pool side dining and formal dining just to name a few.  The first night we threw on our swim suits and headed to the pool to swim and watch a movie pool side.  This was such a great way to kick off our stay.  The resort also has popcorn available to enjoy as you watch the movie.  A short walk from the activity pool we found another pool with a huge waterfall and next to that was the hot tube…my favorite.

The next day we had a yummy breakfast in the main building where we checked in.  The breakfast is buffet style with everything you would come to expect from a luxury resort including an omelet station, waffles, yogurt, sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit, etc.  Our waitress was very attentive and they also had gluten free bread for toast upon request.  After breakfast, my kids were begging to go swimming.  Our first stop was the lazy river.  We were happily surprised that halfway through our float on the lazy river, we came to a waterslide.  What a treat!  My kids were so excited and this slide went very fast so I would recommend this for children elementary age and up to adults.  They rode this slide over and over again.  We visited the resort during the week so the line was very short and the lazy river was not too crowded at all.  Something else, we brought a huge pool float and were able to use it in both the pools and the lazy river.  A big plus!

The Resort also has a great DJ by the main activity pool area who really engages the kids.  My kids were participating in the hula hoop contest, dance off competitions, lip sync battles in the baby pool and loved every minute of it!  They especially loved winning the prizes.  Something else that is fun to do is a scavenger hunt in the deep end of the activity pool around the island in the middle.  There are different murals on the walls in the deep end and you want to match the mural and number to what’s on your water proof card.  This is also something that my kids really enjoyed doing.

While we were there, we decided to make a short video playing the Bean Boozled Challenge and also going down the water slides.  Check it out below!

For dining options, there is a nice restaurant on property however, we spent pretty much all of our time at the pool and lazy river so we enjoyed dining pool side.  The selection included traditional items like burgers, salads, sandwiches and chicken fingers along with adult drinks, and frozen beverages for the kids.

All in all, I highly recommend staying at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center.  There is something for everyone and it’s a great Staycation option.  I’m already planning on going back next year!

I was given a free stay in exchange for my review.  All opinions expressed are my own and I'm already planning on going back next year.
