By Syneetra Williams July 12, 2017

When you think of a family outing, does Conroe come to mind? Well, if it does not, it is time to give this cozy city located just north of Spring and The Woodlands some of your family time. Why? It is home to Hangar 9, a cable wake park. A wake park is a water park on Lake Conroe.

What makes Hangar 9 special, is that you can go wakeboarding without the aid of a floating vessel. If you haven’t been wakeboarding before, then Hangar 9 is the perfect place to learn! From beginners to seasoned professionals they have everything you need for a fun day on the water. The wakeboard park includes two beginner cables for teaching and riders who want to sharpen their skills. They also have a main wakeboarding system used for riding and trying new tricks.

Their main system consists of six towers connected by a cable that allows you to ride in a continuous circle all while hitting jumps and fun features throughout the course. Along with wakeboarding, you can also try knee boarding, wake skating and water skiing at the park. All you need is a swimsuit!

Hangar 9 is introducing its newest addition, a giant floating water park called Aqua Park. It is an obstacle course which allows you to slip, slide, and jump around. The Hangar 9 family challenges you to conquer each hurdle if you can and to have fun while trying. All participants must be at least six years old.

If you are interested in wakeboarding, they offer a Learn to Ride pass that includes all the instruction and equipment needed to wakeboard as well as two hours of ride time. All this for just $50! For those who prefer in playing at the Aqua Park, it is just $15 on weekdays and $20 on the weekends.

Hangar 9’s hours are from high noon until it is dark. Aqua Park’s hours start at 12 p.m., and they close at 8 p.m. Be sure to check out Slow Ride Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.
