Our Trip To The Crayola Experience In Orlando

By Julie Akiri June 10, 2017

When planning our vacation to Orlando, Fl I wanted to include more than just theme parks and was so happy to learn that Crayola has a huge interactive indoor experience.  My daughter has always been into arts and crafts and I was ready for a break from being outside in the heat.  The Crayola Experience is located inside the Florida Mall and they have every kind of art form that you can think of from paint, modeling clay, markers, digital and so many other cool things that we have never done before.

When you walk in, you are given a Crayola bag with 2 tokens in it and then go upstairs where the magic happens  The first station is the Crayon Factory where you get to make your own label for your Crayola Crayon which is awesome!  Each of my kids got to put their name on the label and customize it which was awesome!

Our 2nd token was used to purchase modeling clay from the vending machine in the Modeling Madness area.  Crayola has tables set up with cutters, rollers and markets that kids can use to design with their modeling clay.  I really enjoyed this station because we don't have modeling clay at home and this was something new for my kids to experience.

After playing with the modeling clay, we headed over to the spin art station called Drip Art.  For starters, kids get to select two crayons and there is a worker there who will put a paper plate down on the bottom of the machine for you.  Then, the child inserts 1 crayon into a microwave type device that causes the crayon to melt and drip wax on the paper plate that is spinning.  Once the first crayon is melted, you insert the second crayon and start the process again.  My kids really loved this and I loved that it was a new and unique take on spin art.

One of our favorite stations was the dancing paper station.  Each child receives a bird that they color, cut out and hand to the worker who then puts clips on the feet of the bird and places him up on stage.  I don't know how Crayola does it but the birds dance to choreographed music!  This is one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time and my kids absolutely loved it!

Crayola also has an indoor playground area and many, many other activities that we didn't have time to see.  A family could easily spend 5+ hours at the Crayola Experience.  If Orlando is in your vacation plans, I highly recommend visiting the Crayola Experience!
