Kid Friendly Beaches

By Syneetra Williams August 2, 2017

When the summer season converges upon us, it is time to take a fun trek to the beach. Moms, dads, and the kiddos will enjoy the beaches in the Houston area. Now is the time to check your favorite shopping locations for tents, umbrellas, blankets, coolers, bug repellant, and a 50 SPF or higher sun block lotion all in preparation for long days and evenings at the beach.

Whether itā€™s sunrise or sunset, the seashore is breathtaking so donā€™t forget to pack your camera so that you can capture nature at her best through your lens. Keep safety in mind while visiting the beach with your tots. While some beaches have lifeguards on duty, others do not. You do not want your enjoyable weekend to turn into a tragic event.

Did you know that Harris County has one kid-friendly beach? Well, the name is Sylvan Beach, and if you travel approximately 30 minutes via TX-225 East, you will find it. There are a plethora of reasonably priced hotel/motel options for your lodging pleasure and comfort. Family-friendly restaurants line the streets with menus designed to please the most discriminating palate.

Stewart Beach is named one of the ā€œ10 Best Beaches for Familiesā€ by Family Vacation Critic in 2013, Stewart Beach is Galveston's premier family beach park. Located where historical Broadway Avenue meets the Seawall, Stewart Beach offers plenty of amenities for a day at the beach as well as regular supervision of highly trained lifeguards.

The park is home to a pavilion, concessions, restrooms, showers, chair and umbrella rentals, beach volleyball courts, and more. Alcohol is not permitted. There are a few things to remember before you visit. If you need a wheelchair, they have those too, just present a valid driverā€™s license. Pets are welcome. However, they must be kept on a leash, and as a pet owner, you must curb your furry family member. Bring your boat if you and the kiddos enjoy fishingā€”please donā€™t forget your license!
