Free Things To Do On Spring Break

Looking for some free fun in Houston during this Spring Break? Our list should help get you started!

Asia Society Texas — Make plans to attend Spring into Asia March 13-17, a free event at Asia Society Texas, 1 pm – 3 pm. Tickets are free as long as you RSVP online

Alley Theatre — Sunflower County Freedom Project is traveling to Houston this Spring Break to share a free performance of their play. The show is free and open to all, but you should contact Ki Harris at harriski60@gmail.com to RSVP.

Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens — {Kids 18 and under are free during Spring Break}. Spring break activities are March 12-19 with craft workshops, activities, music, demonstrations, performances, giveaways, open house tours, and more. Adult admission, $10. Get ready for tons of fun at its Free Family DayMarch 19, 1 pm – 5 pm



Blue Willow Bookshop — This book store hosts free weekly storytime each Thursday at 10 am. 

Barnes and Noble Locations—Find your nearest bookstore for FREE storytime!

Barbara Bush Library—Offers FREE storytime!

Pottery Barn Kids—Offers FREE storytime!

Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center — Spring Breakout returns to this wonderful park in Humble March 13-17 with free daily classes. ** Reservations are required for March 15-17 with limited spots available. Reservations open March 1! Call to reserve a spot: (281) 446-8588.


Mounted Patrol Barn — Visit the 
Houston Police Department stables and feed the horses for free! This is available year-round Monday – Friday, noon to 2 pm. Don’t forget to bring apples, carrots, or peppermints to share with the horses.

The Square at Memorial City — The outdoor venue at Memorial City Mall is hosting a week of FREE activities during their Spring Break Escape for March 13th-17th. Each evening features something new. Check out the schedule!

Houston Museum District – Enjoy seven museums for free each Thursday in Houston’s Museum District.

  • Houston Museum of Natural Science: 2 pm – 5 pm
  • Children’s Museum of Houston: 5 pm – 8 pm
  • The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston: 10 am – 9 pm
  • The Health Museum: 2 pm – 7 pm
  • Holocaust Museum Houston: 2 pm – 5 pm
  • Houston Museum of African American Culture: 6 pm – 8 pm
  • Buffalo Soldiers National Museum: 1 pm – 5 pm

Discovery Green — Houston’s downtown park, Discovery Green, is always the site of free family fun. Spring break is no different March 13-17, noon – 4 pm. This year families can enjoy a variety of free activities  and don’t miss Touch-a-Truck Tuesday!

Houston Arboretum & Nature Center — If your kiddo loves the outdoors, feel FREE to explore the trails at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center!
