Berry Crazy for Strawberries: Favorite Places To Pick Fruit & Veggies

Strawberries are in season! Do your little ones love fruit, gardening, or playing around in the dirt? Either way they will be sure to enjoy a mini-adventure to any of the farms we’ve listed below!

Atkinson Farms

Fresh strawberries, fresh locally grown seasonal produce, and more.  Starting March 1st, the season becomes just right to buy fresh strawberries, and some of the finest and best tasting fresh strawberries can be hand-picked by your little ones at Atkinson Farms in Spring, Texas. This fun little Pick-Your-Own Farm offers about 100 acres of vegetables and grows a variety of over 60 different vegetables year round, depending on what is in season. Opens March 1st-October 31 Monday through Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 10-2.

Froberg’s Farm and Country Store

Froberg’s Country Store in Alvin, Texas is open year round seven days a week excluding major Holidays. Strawberry picking typically starts in January and ends late May and is open every day, weather permitting. They also offer homemade big pies, fried pies, pickles, jellies, preserves, pralines, pecan brittle, peanut brittle, kettle and caramel corn. Along with various nuts and candies, you’ll be sure to enjoy! When planning any outdoor activity it is best to call before you come, because all of their activities are contingent on the weather!

Blessington Farms

Farm Fun for All Ages! The Farm will be closed for strawberry picking and all things fun until March 4th, 2017 will be opening day! Plan to stop by sometime at this farm located 20 minutes west of Katy, in Simonton, Texas. And be sure to mark your calendar for their Spring Break Spectacular March 11th-19th and Easter Extravaganza April 8th, 9th, 14th and 15th.  Make plans now to come see for yourself and create great memories picking strawberries, blueberries and thornless blackberries with your family.  Check out their site for all things farm fun!

Matt Family Orchard

Matt Family Orchard has 40 acres planted with pick-your-own fruit and berries available to you and your kiddos. All fruit is sold by the pound, and besides the orchard, they provide year-round group orchard tours. Visitors may see wild life around the orchard, which includes deer, foxes, bobcats, coyotes, hogs, rabbits, roadrunners and more. The orchard is a perfect place for berry picking fun! Located in the Cy-Fair area, approximately 30 miles northwest of Houston off Highway 290, or 7 miles west of Tomball off FM 2920. Check out their site to learn more.

Jollisant Farm

Jollisant Farm is a pick your own vegetables and pick your own fruit farm. They pride themselves on using organic growing methods along with no pesticides or chemicals. You pick what you want straight from the plant or step inside our store for the latest fruits and vegetables we’ve picked.  Everything is fresh! Jollisant Farm takes pride in providing folks near Houston with fresh vegetables.  And guarantees that the food you take home hasn’t been shipped from another country or been sitting in a warehouse for weeks.
