Discovery Green®

Discovery Green®, Houston’s premiere urban park, opened in 2008. What will you discover℠ amongst the park’s 12 acres of urban green space? Features include a one-acre lake; a children’s playground; interactive water features; a multi-use amphitheater stage and sloping lawn; small and large dog runs; various public art works; Houston Public Library Express office; large lawn space, and great dining from The Grove and The Lake House restaurants operated by Schiller Del Grande Restaurant Group.

Memorial Park
Whether for recreation or simply enjoying the outdoors, over four million people have access to Memorial Park each year. The Park is a magical combination of amenities and nature, recreation and respite. Centrally located, commuters drive through winding, wooded roads, free of billboards and commerce, as they head to work. Thirty miles of hiking trails provide a respite from urban life, while local sports enthusiasts flock to the Park’s many amenities and facilities. Come have a picnic or enjoy our other park activities. There are picnic tables located throughout the park as well as along picnic loop. Picnic areas can be reserved for personal use or private events for a fee through the Houston Parks and Recreation Department's Permits and Reservations Office. Tom Bass Regional Park
This beautiful park located on Clear Creek has everything you need for a picnic with your family. There are three different sections of Tom Bass Park. Sections I and III have all the amenities needed for a great picnic and a day of fun. A golf course and model airplane field make up Section II.

Buffalo Bayou Park
Buffalo Bayou Park offers 160 acres of beautiful scenery and skyline views, artwork, a nature play area, the “go-to” dog park in the city, hike and bike trails, and gathering places for visitors to enjoy outdoor activities as well as live, artistic performances. Stretching from Shepherd Drive to Sabine Street between Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive, it is fulfilling its potential as one of the country’s great urban parks.

Spotts Park (Heights)
401 South Heights Boulevard | Houston, TX 77007
Situated in the heart of Houston—on 16.24 acres between Waugh and Memorial— Spotts Park remains a popular outdoor destination for visitors of all ages and abilities.
The park, which was acquired by the City of Houston in 1980, lies in a natural bowl just west of downtown. The multi-use space makes room for basketball and volleyball courts, children’s playground, walking trails and a picnic area. There are also convenient benches, trash cans and drinking fountains.
A short distance from downtown, head there on a quiet afternoon to enjoy lunch or jog the trail.
